Giving back to the communities in which we operate is fundamental to our business philosophy. We are steadfast in our support for social development, particularly in the areas of art, children and education. These causes are important to us as we believe they are essential to the progress of a country, its economy and its people. We show our support in many ways, a few of which are in the form of donations (cash in-kind), fundraising, community engagement, employee volunteerism, and pro bono services.

UOB plays an active role in communities across the region, most notably through our long-term support of art. We believe art has the ability to transcend language, culture and time – a belief that aligns with our commitment to connect and to strengthen the bonds within our communities.

Over the years, we have supported the development of art in Singapore and Southeast Asia through various programmes, partnerships and outreach initiatives across the region.

Our children are the future. UOB is committed to making a difference to their lives, especially for the underprivileged and those with special needs. We contribute to a wide range of community projects for children, including mentorship programmes, improvement of school facilities and the funding of art programmes and exhibitions.

As part of our efforts to give the younger generation a head start in life, we sponsor art education initiatives, hold financial literacy programmes and run university scholarships to help the talent of tomorrow develop to their full potential.

UOB Heartbeat is our corporate social responsibility programme which focuses on the areas of art, children and education.

Through various fundraising and outreach initiatives, UOB Heartbeat brings employees, customers and business partners together to raise funds and to volunteer their time for the community. In 2015, UOB employees spent more than 23,500 hours of their own time to help beneficiaries across the region.

We partner with art institutions, charities, voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs), government agencies and schools to deepen the appreciation of art in our community and to provide financial support to the needy.
